Fall, 2011 Regional Meeting — Newton Centre, Massachusetts

Sunday, November 13, 2011

Temple Emanuel
Newton Centre, Massachusetts

If you live in New England, we will be holding a Gesher Galicia Regional Meeting at 11:30 AM on Sunday, November 13, at Temple Emanuel, in Newton Centre, Massachusetts, sponsored by the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Boston and open to all.

Learn about the All Galicia Database, which features over 175,000 records including birth, death, marriage and divorce records, city directories, school and landowner records. We’ll also cover our Cadastral maps, landowner and voter records project, showing how these records area useful research adjunct to vital records. And get an update about on-going research in the Lviv, Ternopil and Krakow archives, including news on university records held in the Lviv Oblast Archives.

After lunch, Pamela will be giving another talk: “Chutes & Ladders: Creative Approaches to Genealogy,” starting at 2:00 PM — the JGSGB’s regular monthly meeting.

Lunch will be available following the Gesher Galicia meeting for those who plan to stay for the JGSGB program. Please reserve this in advance by November 9 by writing to GGlunch@jgsgb.org. Lunch will be kosher and costs $15.

Details are at: http://www.jgsgb.org/upcoming.html?col11=%27true%27.

Gesher Galicia is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people research their Jewish family roots in the former Austro-Hungarian Empire province of Galicia, which is today southeastern Poland and southwestern Ukraine. Our organization's primary focus is researching Jewish roots in Galicia, but the diverse community records in our databases contain names that span all the ethnic and religious groups who once lived in this region.
