“Searching the All-Galicia Database and Gesher Galicia Map Room Online”
Speaker: Pamela Weisberger

The All Galicia Database has 200,000 records from 70 data sources including birth, death, marriage and divorce records to directories, school, voter and landowner records, all from the former Austro-Hungarian province of Galicia, which today covers eastern Poland and western Ukraine. These diverse community resources contain names spanning all the ethnic/religious groups: Jews, Catholics, Ruthenians, Germans, Greeks, Catholic and Orthodox from these towns. Learn how to use this search engine, in conjunction with our “Cadastral Map Room,” to find ancestors and link the indexes and maps to the original source documents from overseas archives to expand your genealogical research.

Pamela Weisberger is president and research coordinator for Gesher Galicia, as well as the 1st vice-president and program chair for the Jewish Genealogical Society of Los Angeles. She is also a professional genealogist, writer and genealogical videographer.

Gesher Galicia is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people research their Jewish family roots in the former Austro-Hungarian Empire province of Galicia, which is today southeastern Poland and southwestern Ukraine. Our organization's primary focus is researching Jewish roots in Galicia, but the diverse community records in our databases contain names that span all the ethnic and religious groups who once lived in this region.
