Corey Brand is honored to step into the role of Treasurer for Gesher Galicia. A May 2026 graduate of Binghamton University, Corey holds a combined Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Geography and GIS. Following his graduation, he relocated to the Philadelphia area to work in commercial sales for a mapping software company.
Inspired by visits with his great-grandmother and his Bar Mitzvah studies, Corey began researching his genealogy over a decade ago. He ultimately proved skeptics wrong about his family’s surname being altered at immigration by discovering his great-grandfather’s original birth record on Gesher Galicia. He has dedicated countless hours to historical research, delving into his personal genealogy, exploring surname etymology, and studying the cultural, political, and geographic history of Eastern European Jewry.
As a proud one-quarter Galitzianer, Corey has utilized Gesher Galicia’s extensive databases for his own research for years. He considers it a privilege to give back to the genealogical community and support the organization that has been so instrumental in uncovering his family’s history.
