Max G. Heffler is a Senior Engineer for CVR Energy in Sugar Land, Texas, outside Houston. He was recognized for his ongoing commitment to advancing the research of Jewish genealogy being awarded the International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies Volunteer of the year at the 2018 conference in Warsaw, Poland. A long-time JewishGen volunteer, he is webmaster for a number of Kehilalinks towns and coordinates a team that reformats spreadsheets from Yizkor book necrologies and submits them to the JewishGen database. He compiles life cycle events listed in Houston newspapers and submits them to the JewishGen database, created thousands of Yizkor book webpages and creates webpages for the JewishGen Online Worldwide Burial Registry (JOWBR) and Memorial Plaque projects, as well as coordinating many other projects. He is also an active volunteer for JRI Poland and has indexed Warsaw resident and Dachau prison records. In his “spare” time, he plays keyboards and sings in the Larry Glass band.
