    ... during the Passover holiday, the festival of freedom. Deep concern and additional financial burdens were thus placed on the shoulders of the affected families, the entire com-munity and the Judenrat. The Judenrat redoubled its efforts to ease the pain and suffering of the camp inmates by supplying them with basic necessities and encouragement, but it simply was not in their power to save them.
