    ... went on until 1.9.43, when the western Ghetto was completely liquidated and only 150 people were left in tlie Eastern Ghetto. I was one of the remaining few (probably owing to the intevention of Engineer Schultz). Once a rumour spread that the remaining camp was to 10י immediately wiped out. Then in the Springtime I went to the Western Ghetto (the Schmelz Ghetto) where I met Dr. Hauptman the Ghetto doctor. He looked very bad and told me that he was weak with a high tern-perature.
