    BARANOW On the cast was the road leading to the "Wasserlaeh" (a body of stagnant water) and to Tarnobrzeg (County seat). The "Wasserlaeh" also served modest economic and social functions. Its polluted waters furnished a limited supply of fish for the community. In winter it was used by the non-Jews for ice skating and on Rash Hashono by the Jews for Tashlich.
